Osama bin Laden is dead.

Osama bin Laden is dead"Justice has been carried out", said the President Barack Obama

WASHINGTON.- Osama bin Laden, the brains behind the 9/.11 terrorist attacks, was killed in an operation headed by the United States, according to a statement issued on Sunday by President Barack Obama.

A small team of Americans (led by Seal Team Six) carried out the attack and captured the remains of bin Laden, indicated the US President in a dramatic nighttime announcement from the White House. A jubilant group of people came outside the presidential residence as news of the event began to spread.

"Justice has been carried out", said the President.

For some time the authorities have believed that bin Laden, the most sought after person in the world for more than a decade, was hidden in a mountainous region along the frontier between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

His death comes barely months before the tenth anniversary of the attacks on 11 September at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in which over 3000 persons were killed.

The attacks unleashed a series of events that took the United States to wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

A United States official confirmed that Osama bin Laden was killed in a mansion near the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.

A Pakistani intelligence officer also confirmed that bin Laden died in Pakistan.

Both persons spoke on the condition that their identities would not be revealed.

Former President George W. Bush said that he congratulated President Barack Obama after learning of the death of bin Laden.

In a press release issued Sunday night, Bush said that Obama called him to tell him that United States forces had killed bin Laden.

Bush said that "this memorable achievement marks a victory for the United States, for the people that seek peace all over the world and for those that lost loved ones on 11 September of 2001".

He added that the United States "has sent a clear message that no matter how long it takes, justice will be done".

For his part, the mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, said that the Americans have fulfilled the promise that was made after 9/11 to capture and kill Osama bin Laden.

Bloomberg added that the death of the al-Qaida leader does not diminish the suffering that United States citizens experienced in body and soul on 9/11, the day on which the World Trade Center was destroyed, but it is a "critically important victory" for the nation. He considered it to be a tribute to the men and women of the armed forces that have fought with strength the war against terrorism.

The 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks is just a few months away.

Bloomberg said in a press communiqué that he expects that the news about the death of bin Laden "offers certain closure and comfort to all those that lost loved ones (in the 9/11 attack)."

Sobeida pleads out and accuses others.

Sobeida pleads out and accuses othersThe District Attorney admits a deal was made and he says others might be extradited

SANTO DOMINGO. Like a bottle that has an effervescent liquid inside, Sobeida Felix Morel took the top off and spattered all of the persons implicated in the alleged money laundering network that is said to belong to her lover and convicted drug trafficker, Jose David Figueroa Agosto, and even some persons that are not among the accused.

Backed by a deal, which was denied at the trial, the District Attorney Alejandro Moacoso Segarra confirmed for his part, that Felix Morel sat tranquilly and self-assured at the defendant's table and accepted her guilt on the charges of criminal association and money laundering.

The first statements by Felix Morel were that both she as well as all the other defendants were together with Cristian Almonte (Figueroa) both in the apartments in the capital, in Puerto Plata, and in the villas in La Romana, although she said that none of them knew that he was Figueroa Agosto. Those who did know the identity of the alleged drug capo were other persons that she did not identify, but she did refer to the person who gave him the DNI carnet. (DNI =National Investigation Department)

All through her statement, she mentioned Mary Pelaez on several occasions as the person who purchased a house and an apartment for Cristian Almonte (Figueroa) and who even made a fictitious loan for one of the transactions.

She said moreover, that Pelaez was the person that wrote up the checks and changed money, using the Solano Money Exchange Agency as the Electroamerica Company.

She also revealed that Figueroa Agosto met with persons that arrived from Puerto Rico on several occasions in the country. Among the visitors were the well known Angelo Millones, Elvis Medina Torres and another person identified as Marrero, and that her former husband, Eddy Brito, was present at one of these meetings.

She said that Elvin Torres Estrada, processed in Puerto Rico for drug trafficking, bought a Ferrari from Gamal Hache, the owner of the Sofia restaurant where he met with Figueroa Agosto and the majority of the person implicated in the network.

She revealed that Angelo Millones went so far as to buy an apartment in an apartment tower on Bolivar and that later he sold it to another Puerto Rican who is on trial in his country for drug trafficking.

Felix Morel also told how on 3 September 2009, when she was detained after the Police found US$4.6 million in an SUV, it was Sammy Dauhajre who told her that Crisitan Almonte was in trouble and that after his escape he had passed by the house of Pelaez to get a vehicle. She also said that Cristian delivered, through Dauhajre and Ivanovich Smester, US$50,000 for her comfort in Najayo when she was detained, another US$300,000 to pay her bail, plus US$250,000 for use by Brito to talk to the District Attorney, but this money was not used for this.

Mary answers her

When it was her turn, Mary Pelaez questioned the moral quality of Sobeida to make accusations, first because they are from a person who abandoned, according to her, her children in order to leave the country and who was capable of simulating a kidnapping with images of her that showed her to be tied up and gagged.

Upon referring to the accusations of Sobeida, Pelaez said:"I would be incapable of sinking the life of a human being for my own benefit, what moral quality could certain persons have that abandon their children, who leave in a rowboat, send pictures pretending to be kidnapped with a gag in her mouth, saying that they had been kidnapped just to later say that they don't know that person, in spite of being found with that person".

She said that she comes from a humble family, fighters, united and well brought up.

Besides Felix Morel, only Pelaez, Brito and Joan Jose Ibarra testified before the judges of the First Collegiate Tribunal of the National District. The other accused, Madelin Bernard, Dolphy Pelaez, Ivanovich Smester, and Sammy Dauhajre remained silent. The trial continues today.

District Attorney clears up

The District Attorney, Alejandro Moscoso Segarra, defended yester the negotiation that he carried out with the defendants Felix Morel and Leavy Nin Batista, and he made it clear that this process does not exculpate them from a possible sentence. "We are in an important process that is going to benefit the penal justice system, and not only are they going to be found guilty , along with those that are being processed, but also other persons that are not in the process", she said.

She said that several persons that have still not been arrested, including military officials could be requested in extradition by the United States.

The U.S. decides not to publish death photos of Osama bin Laden

The U.S. decides not to publish death photos of Osama bin LadenBarack Obama says the body of the Al Qaeda leader "is not a trophy"

WASHINGTON. President Barack Obama finally decided not to publish the photographs of the body of the Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden because this body "is not a trophy" and in order not to incite violence from extremists.

Obama announced his decision during an interview given to the CBS network program "60 Minutes", part of the transcription was read yesterday by White House spokesman Jay Carney.

"We do not show these things as a trophy", indicated the United States President, who justified his decision by saying that the publication of the photographs could "jeopardize the safety of the United States troops overseas". According to the President's indications, he spoke with his national security team, especially with his Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, and "they were all in agreement".

To publish the photographs, added the President, would not provide any benefit to the national security and on the contrary, they could put overseas troops in danger with the risk of reprisals by persons sympathetic to Al Qaeda. "It is important that we insure that very graphic photographs of someone with a shot to the head do not circulate out there as something to incite more violence".

Regarding the possibility that doubts emerge regarding the authenticity of the death, he said: "We have looked at the reactions around the world and there are no doubts that he is dead. Of course, those that have no doubt are the members of Al Qaeda".

Rumor of sources

According to what United States media has written, which cite sources in Congress, in the images that the White House has, there is a large wound above the left eye of the Al Qaeda leader, where blood and brain matter can be seen. The terrorist received shots to the head and chest on Sunday during a commando operation of elite United States troops at a house in Abbottabad, in Pakistan.
